NEZU AYMO architects were selected for a residency period in Bogota, Colombia by the Fonds BKVB, giving us the opportunity to do research on location for 8 weeks. Our material research was an investigation of the potentials for the use of traditional materials and building techniques in contemporary architecture. The research included brick, earth, palm leaf, and bamboo. We designed and built prototype pieces of two different application principles of bamboo as division walls supplying shade, natural ventilation, and visual transparency.
