An ecological resort in Colombia asked us to design a roof pavilion to cover a compost space and create an outside workshop area around it. For the construction they offered us to use bamboo growing in their plantation. Our proposal makes use of the flexibility of the bamboo: a funnel shaped structure which spread out from a central ring of bamboo to form a roof. As the structure gets wider, extra pieces of bamboo are added between each of first ones, giving more weight to the bending construction. The roof has a double function: apart from being a protection against sun and rain, the inside of the funnel will be covered with waterproof material and work as a reservoir to collect water for the plantation.
